Our Mission in Amritsar

To start an animal birth control program and see an accelerating decline in Amritsar’s stray dog population.

To create a shelter for injured and disabled dogs where they can live out their years in peace and without fear.

To treat every dog humanely. To provide compassionate care and safe post-operative healing. To ensure that no dog is released till they have completely healed.

Progress Report

Animal Birth Control: There are 43,000 stray dogs on the streets of Amritsar (excluding surrounding sub-urban areas where the count is essentially unknown). To be successful in bringing down the population humanely we need to sterilize 60+ dogs each day, 6 days a week, while keeping mortality rates to under 1% (as prescribed by the Animal Welfare Board of India). We began this 12-year long project in 2020, with optimism, prayer, good wishes from volunteers and strangers alike, dedicated management, and generous donations. We are meeting our targets. Many thanks to those who have contributed an immense amount of time, effort and money.

Provide shelter to injured and disabled dogs: This project is well underway, with the generous allocation of land by a Trustee. A huge area is now built up and reserved for disabled dogs.
